Mission

  • Supporting the transfer of research results from academic centres to the industry, particularly to small/medium enterprises developing high technologies
  • Promoting innovative solutions in the field of Smart Technologies (Smart-Tech)

Goals

  • Monitoring and trying to improve the current state of technology transfer in Poland
  • Initiating and stimulating a public debate on support for the technology-targeted research and transferring research results to the industry
  • Supporting pioneer transfers of research results in the field of Smart-Tech
  • Integrating (on national and European scale) the community of researchers and industrial partners dealing with Smart-Tech
  • Creating and supporting the Laboratory of Adaptronics

Activities

  • Writing and publishing reports on technology transfer (running an Internet forum)
  • Supporting, participating and coordinating various research projects in the field of Smart-Tech
  • Organizing Expert Courses in the field of Smart-Tech
  • Organizing conferences and meetings for promotion of Smart-Tech

Smart Technologies

Smart Technologies are understood here a fast-developing, interdisciplinary field of technology-targeted research, integrating the know-how of several disciplines (e.g. mechanics, electronics, informatics). Thanks to the synergy effect, the final Smart-Tech product is supposed to outperform standard products, not equipped with the Smart-Tech solutions. An example could be adaptive absorption of impact by landing gears, which adjust the stiffness of dampers to the anticipated (based on real-time measurement of sink speed) energy of impact during landing. This way the landing becomes as smooth as possible for given conditions.
